We strive to be excellent corporate citizens by supporting the communities where we work and live. That starts with the safety of our operations. We strive for a zero-injury workplace, believing that every employee has a fundamental right to a safe place to work.
We're also active in our communities. Hundreds of Boise Inc. employees are board members, coaches, mentors, and court advocates. Employees participate in group projects for many nonprofit organizations, giving thousands of hours to these organizations.
Many of our locations have gone one or more years without a recordable injury and we have one of the lowest incident rates in the industry, but we strive to reach zero across all locations.
It starts with leadership
Our senior business leaders actively engage our people in safety through the Senior Leadership Safety Committee. Their participation is key in an intervention process when a location is experiencing safety issues.
Employee participation is vital
At Boise Inc., we believe every employee must fully participate as a leader to keep our work environment safe.
Safety principles
We contribute financially to programs across the country, with a focus on youth, education and community development. Some examples:
We believe that education is critical to promote change. That's why we work with stakeholders for mutual benefit.
Customers
Boise works one on one with customers to share information about the role of paper and packaging in sustainability conversations and goals. We focus on sharing facts on recycling as well as responsible purchasing, printing, and packaging.
Employees
We understand that knowledge is a lifelong quest. We offer an education aid program to help employees achieve their professional development goals.
Employees set a paper industry safety record this year at our mill in DeRidder, Louisiana: 10 million work hours without a lost-time accident.
The prior record holders? Employees at our mill in Jackson, Alabama.
We can be trusted to do what we say and to take responsibility for our actions.
